    Out in the park before the weekend? Walkers might come across these signs at the park’s entrances

    Across the weekend Friends of The Glen will be hosting fun events in the park for all the family – there will be guided walks and workshops with artists, a poet, and a botanist.

    Drop in for a book and an activity 12 – 5 pm each day.

    SATURDAY

    12.00 Workshop/walk Join poet/writer, Ann Dalton on a journey of discovery through the Glen River Park, gathering story threads along the way to fill a blank page with tall tales! A fun, relaxed writing workshop for kids, and grown ups with flights of fancy. 1 hour
    14.00 Nature Dominoes with visual artist Éilis ní Fhaoláin
    What better way to get to know your local flowers, birds and insects.
     Come and help make a game of Dominoes using drawings you make in the Glen River Park. We will then put the game on our website for you or your friends to cut out and keep.
    All materials provided. 1 hour
    15.00 Scavenger Hunt with visual artist Elinor Rivers
    Explore the beautiful Glen River Park while following prompts to find natural treasures and enjoy wildlife. An enjoyable and educational activity suitable for family groups. All materials provided. 1 hour

    On Sunday there will be the OFFICIAL LAUNCH officiated by Niamh Twomey Cork City Heritage Officer

    There will be a special guest appearance by Ellie O’Byrne (investigative journalist and co-founder Tripe & Drisheen) who will speak about her research into the legacy of the Gouldings Fertiliser Plant in the Glen

    of plant matter with Jo Goodyear

    The Glen Resource & Sports Centre will open its gates onto the park for the weekend.
    Take the path up from ‘The Snake’ mosaic past the football pitch on your right and veer West up the hill through the meadow and the young tree plantation…. or…. follow the path to the top and veer west on the T to the Open Gate …see our banner! Enter the Resource Centre here :)
    The Launch will take place in the Health & Well Being [Outdoor Covered] Area at the park side of the Centre

    The space can also be accessed by the Main entrance on Glen Avenue where there is parking available
